Jesus is the King and I reign with Him (Eph 1)

1.       Lesson
  • Eph 1:20-23 God raised Jesus from the dead and seated Him at His right hand in the heavenly places, 21 far above all principality and power and might and dominion, and every name that is named, not only in this age but also in that which is to come. 22 And He put all things under His feet, and gave Him to be head over all things to the church, 23 which is His body, the fullness of Him who fills all in all.
  •  Who is Jesus?
    • Died and rose again — death could not hold Him
    • Seated at God’s right hand in the heavenly places — His work is finished, that’s why He is sitting down
    • Above all powers and name — over all time, past, present, future
    • All things are put under His feet — everything (physical, spiritual, big things, small things) are under His control
    • Head over all things
    • Jesus is King of EVERYTHING!
      • Jesus has royal lineage from both Joseph and Mary
      • Jesus was conceived by the Holy Spirit
      • Jesus: not just a human King but a divine King, too
      • Not just King of the Jews but also of a new people who have been born again by the Spirit
  • Who are we?
    • The church
    • Jesus’ body
    • Filled with Jesus Jesus has given us, His church, His power to use us for His purposes and make us into what we were meant to be. We can display His power and authority on earth.
    • Jesus is King, and we REIGN with Him!
      • Rev 1:5  And from Jesus Christ, the faithful witness, the firstborn from the dead, and the ruler over the kings of the earth. To Him who loved us and washed us from our sins in His own blood, 6 and has made us kings and priests to His God and Father, to Him be glory and dominion forever and ever. Amen.
      • Rev 5:10 And have made us kings and priests to our God; And we shall reign on the earth.”
      • Rom 5:10 For if when we were enemies we were reconciled to God through the death of His Son, much more, having been reconciled, we shall be saved by His life
        • Christ's death:
          • delivered from wrath of God
          • reconciled with God
          • sure of our hope of heaven
        • Christ's life (in us):
          • enables us to live life fully on earth
          • We reign in life through Christ!
We can have kingly dominion over the challenges that come our way

  • Conclusion:
    • Jesus is our King
    • His death and life has given us victory
    • He has made us kings with Him
    • We reign in life by receiving His:
      • abundance of grace
      • gift of righteousness
